Frequently Asked Questions
About PetFelt Suspended
Ceiling Rafts
-
A: Suspended rafts are significantly more efficient due to double-sided absorption. By hanging the raft with an air gap (e.g., 200mm - 400mm) below the structural ceiling, you capture sound on the bottom face and the top face as sound reflects off the soffit. This allows a single 1200x1200mm raft to achieve an absorption value of 1.6 Sabins, effectively acting like a much larger panel.
-
A: Installation is simple and tool-free. Each raft comes complete with adjustable 1.5-meter suspension cable kits. The cable grippers screw directly into the panel and the ceiling fixing can be attached to concrete, plasterboard, or even clipped onto an existing T-grid. The adjustable clutch allows you to level the raft perfectly without cutting wires.
-
A: Yes. PetFelt is easy to cut on-site using a sharp blade or hole saw. This allows you to install downlights, pendant drops, or smoke sensors directly through the face of the panel. This creates a seamless "acoustic cloud" that manages both sound and light above meeting tables or workstations.
-
A: We offer four standard geometric profiles: Rectangular (2400x1200mm), Square (1200x1200mm), Circular (1200mm or 600mm diameter), and Hexagon. However, we can CNC cut any custom shape to match your branding or floor plan.
-
A: Absolutely. Our PetFelt material is fire-rated to EN13501-1 Class B-s1/2,d0, meaning it is self-extinguishing and produces low smoke. Additionally, unlike fiberglass or mineral wool rafts, PetFelt is non-irritant, non-allergenic, and shatterproof, making it a safe and durable choice for high-traffic educational environments.
