PetFelt Ceiling Surface

PetFelt Ceiling Surface
PetFelt Ceiling Surface panels deliver the exceptional sound absorption and sleek, modern aesthetics of our traditional wall panels, optimised specifically for overhead applications. By applying acoustic treatment directly to the ceiling substrate, you can dramatically lower reverberation and control noise levels in any space without the need for complex suspension systems, drop ceilings, or visual clutter.
Merging high-performance absorbency with a lightweight, slim profile, it is the perfect solution for offices, restaurants, and educational spaces where maintaining ceiling height and a clean, uninterrupted architectural surface is critical.

Technical Data
Composition:
Recycled PET Fibre - Robust, light, no irritation, eco-friendly, washable, fade-resistant, fireproof
Dimensions:
2440 x 1220 x 9mm @ 2000gsm
2440 x 1220 x 12mm @ 2400gsm
2800 x 1220 x 12mm @ 2400gsm
2440 x 1220 x 24mm @ 3800gsm
(oversized available with MOQ)
Fire Rating:
EN 13501-1:2018 - Class B-s1/2,d0
Sustainability:
Contains a minimum of 75% recycled polyester fibre (Post-consumer, from PET bottle-flake), ensuring comparatively low embodied energy. Off-cuts and manufacturing waste are reused or recycled wherever possible. Uncontaminated panels can be recycled.
Installation:
Designed specifically for flat, direct-to-ceiling application. Because PetFelt is incredibly lightweight, these panels can be bonded directly to plasterboard, concrete, or existing flat ceiling substrates using a suitable high-grab ceiling adhesive or sprayed contact adhesive.
For an adhesive-free installation, or for added security, panels can be mechanically fixed using screws with large-head washers, pin-nails, or a direct-fix clip system. Full instructions and guidelines for ceiling fixing and placement are included with all orders.
NRC:
9mm = 0.40 | + AirGap (50mm) = 0.80
12mm = 0.40
24mm = 0.75 | + (25mm) = 0.85 | + (50mm) = 0.90
NRC = Noise reduction coefficient. A measure of a panel's overall sound reduction/absorption, ranging from 0=zero to 1=100% absorption

Frequently Asked Questions
About Acoustic Wall Panels
-
A: Flush-mounted ceiling panels are ideal for spaces with low ceiling heights or where a minimalist, unobtrusive design is preferred. Because they sit flush against the ceiling substrate, they do not interfere with lighting sightlines, sprinkler systems, or the overall architectural volume of the room, while still providing excellent reverberation control.
-
A: Very easily. PetFelt is a highly versatile, rigid material that can be precision-cut on-site using standard hole saws, hollow punches, utility knives, or we can pre-cut the panels via our CNC machines to your exact lighting and HVAC plans prior to delivery.
-
A: Yes, the pound-for-pound acoustic properties are exactly the same. In many environments—particularly open-plan offices or busy restaurants—the ceiling provides the largest uninterrupted surface area for sound waves to bounce off. Treating the ceiling is often the most effective way to eliminate room echo.
-
A: Absolutely. We offer bespoke CNC etching and carving to add custom geometric patterns, brand logos, or architectural textures directly into the panel's face. Because PetFelt is a solid colour throughout, the carved channels remain crisp and consistent without the need for edge-banding. Etching into the surface maintains the material's structural integrity and does not compromise its high acoustic absorption, allowing you to blend acoustic control with elevated ceiling design.
-
A: Yes! While designed for direct-to-surface fixing, if you require higher low-frequency absorption (up to NRC 0.90-1.0 for our 24mm panel), you can install them on standard timber or metal ceiling battens to create a 25mm or 50mm air gap behind the panel.
-
A: Safety is our priority. Our PetFelt material is tested to EN13501-1 Class B-s1/2,d0, meaning it is suitable for ceiling applications in the vast majority of commercial, educational, and public environments where strict fire safety compliance is mandatory.
